This article explains how the company started, how it works with owners, and what to ask when you choose a management partner.
Who is Suwamana Wahyu Putra?
Suwamana Wahyu Putra is Founder and CEO of Dijiwa Asia. When the company launched its hotel brand in 2021, The Yak magazine named him as its CEO and founder. A press release issued from Denpasar in May 2024 gave him the same title, styling his name with the Balinese birth-order name as Nyoman Suwamana Wahyu Putra.
What does Dijiwa Asia do?
Dijiwa Asia is a hotel management and development company headquartered in Denpasar, Bali. It offers seven services: hotel management, operator consulting, concept and branding, sales and marketing management, hotel design and development, architecture, interior and landscape design, and construction and engineering consulting.
That range covers a project from both ends. The company can shape the concept and design before a property is built, and it can run day-to-day operations once the property is open.
How did the company start?
The company launched its hotel brand, Dijiwa Sanctuaries, in 2021 with six properties and expanded to twelve in 2022. After that it says it “strategically focused on operational excellence”, adding two or three properties a year. It now reports managing more than 15 properties.
The two names mean different things. Dijiwa Sanctuaries is the hotel brand portfolio, and guests book those hotels at dijiwasanctuaries.com. Dijiwa Asia is the company that manages the portfolio and advises other owners.
What does “Dijiwa” mean?
The company states that “Dijiwa” means “soul” in Indonesian. Its stated mission is “to deliver perfection in every service given with the uniqueness of the culture”.
In the 2024 release, he put the idea this way: “We believe that travel should be transformative, enriching the lives of both guests and the communities they visit.”
How does Dijiwa Asia work with owners?
The company describes itself as a pure operator. It does not take an equity stake, so the owner keeps 100% ownership of the property. Its standard management agreements start from 10 years, with terms open to negotiation.
Fees have two parts: a base management fee set as a percentage of gross revenue, and an incentive fee set as a percentage of gross operating profit once agreed performance thresholds are met. Owners receive daily reservation reports, weekly performance summaries, monthly financial statements and competitive set benchmarking.
The company sums up its approach in one line: “We lead from the front and engage at every level. At every step of our business, we are looking after yours.” The hotel management service page has more detail.
Is there independent recognition?
One recognition can be checked outside the company. The MICHELIN Guide awarded Blue Karma Village, in Umalas, One MICHELIN Key in 2025. The Guide’s 2026 selection for Indonesia, announced on September 18, 2026, lists the property again, a second consecutive year.
The company also reports more than 20 awards across its properties in 2024 and 2025, including TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards and Booking.com Traveller Review Awards. The awards page lists them.
What should an owner ask a management partner?
Whichever operator you consider, four questions apply. How many properties does it run, and in which segments? What does it control, and what stays with the owner? How are its fees tied to your results? Can it show you its reports before you sign?
Dijiwa Asia publishes its answers in its FAQ. To compare for yourself, start with the portfolio of properties, then contact the team.
